Klal Israel from Religious Law to History Yosef Gorny article discusses the collective conceptof the Jews in the modern era , i . e . their transition from being a religious nation to their being a people defined by several - civil , lingual-cultural and religious . The term Klal Israel ( All Israel ) thus represents the ideological aspiration as well as the political interest to maintain a unity on a global base . the first part , the article examines the modern attitude to Klal Israel on two : historiography and politics . It analyzes the viewof the historians who wrote historyof the Jewish people in the modern era . It also examines modern political ies of Jews - secular as well as religious - in which the issueof Klal Israel central . The second part of the article discusses the validity of these views of historians examined above and the validityof the various ideologies in terms of concept of Klal Israel .
