Religion in a Post-Modernistic Society Eliezer Schweid In this paper the author proposes a comparison between the positions of Jewish Orthodoxy in modernistic society before and after World War II . It is assumed that the differences arise as the result of changes in the cultural nature of modernity . The author defines the major differences between Modernity and Post-Modernity and claims that these developments have led to a radical change in the role of Modern-Orthodox movements . ( He particularly examines the role of the Religious Kibbutz Movement ) . The author draws the conclusion that these movements can no longer function directly as 'bridges' through their types of synthesis between religiousity and modernity on the cultural level . Thus it seems that they have lost their national position as a unifying factor .
