The Babylonian Tradition of Targum Ezekiel

Josep Ribera-Florit In preparing a critical edition of the official Targums ( Onqelos to the and Jonathan Ben Uzziel to the Prophets ) , one must have in mind that Targums' final structure was formed in Babylonia . Therefore it evident that the study and the edition of the manuscripts must be according to the Babylonian Masorah . In this contribution in honour Professor Aron Dotan , I shall attempt to explain the way one has to follow order to achieve a critical edition of the Targum to Ezekiel ( Tg Ez ) . ' When analysing the Babylonian punctuation of Tg Ez , one must first of all that the fragments available at present , according to the Babylonian tradition , are relatively few in comparison with the MSS Isaiah and Tg Jeremiah . In fact , for chapters 1 , 2 , 6 , 9 , 10 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 44 no fragmentse are known , and although some fragments from the chapters ( 4 , 5 , 7 , 11 , 20 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 32 , 33 , 36 , 48 ) are known are frequently either small or blurred ,...  אל הספר
