Approaching organizational complexity Chen Gratz-Shmueli Over the past decade complexity ideas have been growing in popularity in the social sciences , especially in management and organizational thinking . Complexity thinking , as it’s name suggests , calls attention to the enormous complexity of human systems . This approach also underscores both the limitations of our ability to really know the organizational system in-depth as well as the vagueness of our expectations of managers . In a sense , complexity thinking is about limitations , and challenges our ability to shape and manage managerial and organizational reality .
