The Impact of Industrialization in Tsarist Russia on the Socioeconomic Conditions of the Jewish Population by Arcadius Kahan The point of departure for our inquiry is the halfway mark in intensive industrialization under the Tsarist regime , 1897-98 . The is not arbitrary but is primarily dictated by the availability of two evidence generated by the first All-Empire Population Census of 28 ( February 1 1 ) , 1897 , and by an 1898 study commissioned , and subsequently published by the Jewish Colonization ( JCA ) . These two studies provide an opportunity for a crossanalysis of the social structure of the Jewish population within the Settlement in Russia and permit inferences both about the prior and quent impact of industrialization in Russia upon the social structure Jewish population .
