6.4.7. The Judgment of David’s Sins by the Lord and Nathan

Sa mu el 462 part of the episode with the Lord’s contrary judgment using similar words, for forming and emphasizing the contrast : “But this thing that וירע ; David has done becomes wrong in the eyes of the Lord “ ( v . 27 b . ) הדבר אשר עשה דוד בעיני ה’ While the episode of the sins and the Lord’s first reaction comes to its conclusion, a new one opens describing Nathan appearance before David . This new episode, with other ensuing ones, deals with the aftermath of David’s sins accompanied by a series of punishments . In the first stage, the Lord sends Nathan the Prophet to chastise the king and to announce his punishments . Several of the punishments are also shaped according to the Biblical rule of “measure for measure” as we shall see below and in the chapter 7 ) .
