439 David, Bathsheba, Uriah, Joab and Nathan We will again reopen the question : based on David’s walk on the palace roof in the evening , does Bathsheba intentionally devise a plot to provoke David to marry her ? Realistic considerations do not support a positive hypothesis . Bathsheba’s bathing takes place at the evening and a distance away from the palace in the house of Uriah and Bathsheba . The conditions of time and place are not advantageous for a clear view . Moreover, Bathsheba’s status as a married woman to one of the king’s high - ranking officers hinders both her and David from having an affair or marrying .
