235 Saul’s Demise David answers Achish trying to reverse Achish’s order, “But why, what have I done ? and what have you found in your servant from the day I have been serving you until this day, that I should not come and v . David declares that he wants to fight against the enemies of his lord the king, but he does not specify who is “the king”—is it Saul or Achish ? Achish understands that he is the king whom David expresses his desire to fight against his enemies, —David intends to fightbut the implied reader enjoys the dupe 20 against the Philistines, Saul’s enemies . The first apologetic author continues to find excuses for David’s participation in the Philistine army describing him as drawn by Achish’s order to take part in this war .
