It included discourse analysis of 24 discourse episodes ( approximately 20 hours of recorded data ) from three learning activities : ( 1 ) sharing field experiences, ( 2 ) learning new pedagogical content, and ( 3 ) discussing classroom video representation . The discourse analysis enabled us to assess the distribution of productive pedagogical talk by the activity type and rank the episodes by level of productivity . We used this ranking to compare facilitation practices in the three most productive episodes and the three least productive ones, employing the constant comparison method .
