abstracts | 319 Designing learning spaces based on pedagogy to support the developing pedagogical resilience of pre - service teachers Sigal Oppenhaim Shachar This article examines the process whereby first - year education students develop pedagogical strength and resilience during their initial student - teaching experience . The students׳ acquisition of professional authority, both in and out of the classroom, contributes to this resilience by ensuring that they are able to negotiate with students, parents, and educational institutions . The findings described here are based on semi - structured interviews conducted at the end of the academic year . They indicate that the design of an educational and learning space based on principles of feminist pedagogy helped the students to discover their developing strengths, and to experience these newfound powers in the classroom, as well as in other areas of their lives .
