ABSTRACT This study began as a joint research effort between Yad Tabenkin and the Research Institute of Hungarian Cooperatives . Its subject is the relation between the size of Rural Cooperatives / Kibbutz and their economic efficiency . This paper refers to the findings for Israel; however, it should be noted that the parameters were constructed according to joint specifications, in order to draw parallel theoretical conclusions . The study was to proceed to a second stage, in which the administrative structure of the more and of the less efficient units of various sizes were to be analyzed through various methods . Theoretical assumptions : Prior knowledge on the subject assumed the existence of contradicting impacts of size on cooperatives, according to the general economic situation and the limits of size .
