Letters from Halutzim in Occupied Poland 4491­ 1940 This book contains letters from Poland during the Second World War, at the time of the German occupation . The letters were written by people active in the Jewish Youth Movements which were connected to the . various Israeli kibbutz movements . Most of the Jewish youth movements in Poland functioned within the framework of "Hehalutz" ( "The Pioneer" ) and * he letters which they succeeded in smuggling into Switzerland ( to the "Hehalutz" office in Geneva ) give us some idea of the life of the Jews in Poland during the years 1941 to 1944, at a time * hen the Nazi regime was systematically exterminating European Jewry .
