Chapter 10 Qur’ān

Qur’ān 93 him that this chapter is only for him and not for other believers . He said that he understood this allusion and knew that this chapter reflects his essence, because one’s essence is what distinguishes him from others . The chapter is Qur’ān 112 ( sūrat al - ikhlāṣ ) and Ibn al - ‘Arabī understands the name of the sūra as denoting that all relationships in the universe originates in God alone ( tukhlaṣu al - nisab li - allāh ) . Although the whole world is identical to the Real, it is so from the perspective of its wholeness ( min ḥaythu majmū‘uhu ) and from the perspective of God’s essence . From this perspective, all the parts of the world including all causes and their effects are one . Ibn al - ‘Arabī says that when this chapter was sent down to him, its understanding was bestowed on him . 4 Thus, what distinguishes one individual from another is not the Qur’ānic chapter that fits him, but rather its unique understanding of the text of the chapter .
