Openness and Faith: In Search of Cultural Education Here and Now

Ayalon Eidelstein What is openness ? In our view , what is considered ״ open “ and what is considered ״ closed ?“ Is openness a scientific approach ? Or is it a cultural , political , or aesthetic one ? And what is its relationship to the realm of religious faith ? Does the latter necessarily contradict openness in its modern sense ? Can openness not profit from belief and vice versa ? The book , Openness and Faith , attempts to trace a philosophical route that would link the two values mentioned above – values that are generally perceived as indubitable cultural opposites that are in everlasting conflict . A one - dimensional perception such as this greatly reduces the possibility of cultural and educational discourse ; in fact , it renders this discourse practically unfruitful .
