These youngsters spend a substantial proportion of their time in the schools , and although most of the latter are equipped with cutting - edge technologies , there is nevertheless a gap between the students ' real life in the digital space and the irrelevant world they experience in the schools . There are three layers of modern technologies that necessitate a paradigm shift in the attitude toward their inclusion in the learning and teaching processes and their integration into those processes : social networks , alternative reality , and mobile technologies .
