Multilingual , multicultural , immigration - absorbing Israeli society is confronted with complex linguistic issues that manifest themselves , in the local education system . Hebrew , the dominant language underwent an impressive revival process over a century ago , and its attainment by speakers of other languages is accompanied by dilemmas concerning acquisition modes as well as the maintenance of the immigrants ' home languages and cultures .
