Asia's Big Biennials in Korea and Taiwan: Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, and Taipei

Rachel Sukman The ability of a country such as Korea to hold three biennials in three cities Seoul—simultaneously , Busan , and and—Gwangju to implement productions-mega of artistic projects which require colossal budgets , is commendable On my recent trip to East Asia , to Korea and Taiwan , I was unable to leave my memories of the 2004 Taipei Biennial behind . They traveled with me , variegated , exotic , and graceful , re ֳ ecting , most of all , the age of innocence . Remarkably colored animals , especially in the installation of the dogs in pink created by Li Chih-Hsun at the Kaohsiung Museum of Art , or the meticulous red-wine paper cutouts , which were collected from families , mainly women , in s'Taiwan northern province .
