A Palestinian-type Lexeme in an Early Syriac Manuscript

It is an honor for me to dedicate this short study to Prof . M whose monumental doctoral dissertation on CPA marked a research on this dialect . In a recent article on the orthography of early Syriac th th from the 5 and 6 centuries C . E ., Sebastian Brock warns the fact that Western Aramaic style lexemes ( in particular , Christian Palestinian Aramaic [ = CPA ]) sometimes appear in manuscripts as an indication of Palestinian textual influence especially true of the Sinai palimpsest of the Syriac Gospels S . Lewis ( London 1910 ) but also of other early Syriac works that the term ( א ) סנ ' miracle' ( ordinary Syriac = redre ' J , regularly in Mishnaic Hebrew ( = MH ) , and Jewish Palestinian ( = JPA ) also occurs in the early fourth century Syriac author and that the Greek loanword ar < r ( < ouv ) 'therefore ' , which v CPA turns up several times in Ephrem ' s Commentary on the 2 and nowhere else in Syriac .
