Everything , namely the painting , originates from a reflection devoid of a narrative content and emotional meaning . A painting must emerge from something that is laid on the canvas as a potential presence ; two brushstrokes or a grid of lines . Like a foreknown or unknown , albeit given , scheme . Accurate straight lines provide the point of departure ; lines dictated by the ruler , intersecting at a right angle . Extended vertically and horizontally , close to the ceiling , is a cross-like wooden ruler , a marker of length and breadth . Klasmer strives toward a texture-free painting .
