Apart rfom a decadeof economic growth rfom the mid­seventies to the mid­eighties, during most of the years more people have letf than entered the kibbutz . This is partof the general movement rfom the country into towns and rfom the periphery to the center, but in the kibbutzim this Process has been accelerated owing to the crisis they are undergoing . Atfer the peirod during which mostof the kibbutzim were established, the second generation became the main source of population growth . During the last decade, the birth rate is decreasing . Fewer children are born and this is evident rfom the smaller early childhood groups . This progressive demographic change will lead to a further decline in the youthful and active population in ±e coming years . The level of educationof the kibbutz population is relatively high .
