Sad 's work and his own upon viewing Dur e , and suggested a collaboration of art and science . For two years they met weekly to discuss memory . The result is a three-part installation entitled Reconfiguring Memory , on permanent view at the Neurobiology of Cognition Laboratory , Center of Neural Science , NYU . In Reconfiguring Memory , Sad constructed a huge conference table , 4 . 7 meters long . The table top , based on her nocturnal urban photographs , is comprised of 32 panels , all of which present a single image : New York city at night . Since the photograph was enlarged , the images have become abstract , only marking the memory of the original photograph . The edited photographs are laminated between annealed glass panels , which , at a very high temperature , became one unit weighing about half a ton .
