Abstract

Colours of soul and mind : Art therapy for children who behave aggressively This book focuses on art therapists who work with school children referred for treatment due to aggressive behavior . It presents a unique synthesis of research , theory and practice . Part 1 presents a mixed methods study that employed questionnaires , interviews , and drawings - to explore the practices and experiences of over one hundred Israeli art therapists and clinical supervisors . Analgses & the findings showed that many therapists experience unusual challenges and difficulties in working withthese children , this population , largely related to the tension that arises in a situation where they wish to provide nurturing and acceptance while faced with their clients ’ intimidating aggression . Part 2 presents a conceptual model , that offers principles for addressing the challenges typically encountered in the treatment of this population .
