the aromas of the Tunisian home in which she grew up . From the very outset of her artistic career she has used colorful aromatic spices as raw materials and color ingredients , but at the same time , she did not waive radiant gold leaves . Her works are sensual , teeming with wild , powerful movement . She works intensely ; dipping her fingertips in gold ֳ akes and black pigment , she imprints them on the paper with intuitive , lively gestures , prancing on the surface of the paper , marking it with ostensibly uncontrollable energies . A boat , eyes , a house , a bird , and wings are recurring themes in her works . In House and Wing , antithetical messages signify the yearning for the safety of the family home and the homeland , on the one hand , and the longing for freedom , marked by the wing attached to the house , on the other . Boat paintings in Israeli art forthwith conjure up Arie Aroch’s 1968–1970 series of paintings , where the boat was a symbol of wandering , a personal marker , and at the same time–a collective signifier of the Jewish people . Photographer Avivit Segal presents a Red Boat awaiting its passengers , as it were . The ship moors by the shores of Atlit , the artist’s place of residence , and is akin to a photographic object of her thoughts about life in the shadow of fear .
