Research centre The systematic use of new technologies in education is in its infancy and our knowledge of how people think and learn is incomplete . Continuous research would be necessary into new technological and scientific approaches to education . A special research centre might have to be set up for this purpose . In such a place , research on the learning and thought processes would take place . Advice for the educators on how to use and not to use the computer and other technologies in the learning system would be available . The research centre should so guide the educators and administrators that promising ideas should not be discredited through poor implementation and that limited resources should not be wasted on doubtful projects . The centre should encourage the production of learning material for guided self-study , for schools and universities . The role of the educator in the environment of technology would itself be an important topic for examination . The research centre could undertake a consideration of the socialization function of the school . It would have to invite experts to examine to what extent the socialization function of the schools would be affected by the learning system and to devise means to restore this function , in the school or outside it . The parents and the other partners who should be involved in fostering values and developing character might be invited to join in this enquiry . What is the social impact of the new technologies ? Even if the advantaged and the disadvantaged have the same technological PRODUCTS OF THE LEARNING SYSTEM Research , evaluation and information are desirable in themselves ; they may also yield an important by-product in that they might induce in those who are responsible for the learning system an approach akin to that applied in business . Investments in money and manpower should generally be justified by results . tern , they might wish to examine whether any elements of the methods of the Yeshivot might not be adapted by the universities for their undergraduate students .
